Third party recommendation

´´The 2008 Vallobera Reserva is pure Tempranillo aged for 18 months in 80% French oak barrels and the rest American. It shows some hints of complexity and a fresh palate with clean acidity and good length. Drink 2014-2019.´´ 90 points

Vallobera Reserva

D.O.Ca. Rioja

The San Pedro family has a centuries-long heritage of vineyard working and winemaking in the village of Laguardia in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Bodegas Vallobera owns 80 ha of prime vineyards. Vallobera is his highest-located vineyard and, in fact, one of the highest in the whole of Rioja. It has 14 ha and produces very good grapes. The Vallobera vineyard has
been chosen as the trademark of the wines.

Tasting note

Dark cherry red colour, Vallobera follows a modern concept in wine; full-bodied and also very fruity. Elegant, well balanced, full of primary aromas with hints of minerals and vanilla tones from the ageing in oak. The structure is firm, with noble tannins present, yet soft on the palate. Long lingering finish. 100% Tempranillo grapes, 18 months oak ageing in a combination of French (80%) and American (20%) oak.

Pairing

Ideal to accompany red meat, game and rich casseroles. Best consumed at 19ºC.
